The 6th Annual SATMA AWARDS 2011 theme is NDIM LO. NDIM LO is IsiXhosa and translated to English it means This is Me. Ndim Lo is a powerful declaration of one’s being. It says before I am anything else, my authentic self comes from my culture and heritage. It further states unapologetically that the true essence of one’s being is not driven by trends and what is popular.
Ndim Lo speaks to each and every South African across racial and ethnic backgrounds. In Xitsonga it says Hhimina Loyi, in seSotho it says Ke Na o, in SePedi it says Yo Kenna, in SeTswana it says Enwa Kena, in isiZulu it says Yimi Lo and in TshiVenda it says Ndinne Hoyu. No matter what language is used to say it, the point is crystal clear.
It says I am all those things that are cultural and a part of heritage, be it music, language, attire, dance, place of birth, lineage etc. The SATMA AWARDS has come up yet again with a Theme that promote cultural and ethnic pride thus very much in line with nation building and social cohesion.
